When it comes to takeout containers, it's important to know how to dispose of them responsibly. Takeout containers made of wax or plastic-lined paperboard can't be recycled in most recycling programs because of the mixed materials. However, there are some ways to avoid sending them to the landfill.

If the container is still in good condition, consider reusing it. You can wash it and use it as a food storage container or for packing lunches. If you have a community sharing group or a local food bank, you might also be able to donate the containers to them.

If the container is not reusable, it should be placed in the regular trash bin. Avoid composting wax or plastic-lined paperboard containers as they are not compostable. It's essential to properly dispose of them to prevent contamination in recycling or composting facilities.
