How to Properly Dispose of Pizza Boxes

When it comes to pizza boxes, recycling can be a bit tricky. While cardboard pizza boxes are technically recyclable, there are a few important guidelines to follow to ensure proper recycling:

  • Remove any food remnants or grease stains. Grease and food can contaminate the recycling process and make the cardboard unusable.
  • Tear off the clean top of the box and put it in the recycling bin. This part is typically uncontaminated and can be recycled easily.
  • The bottom part of the box usually has grease stains and food residue, so it should be disposed of in the trash. It is not recyclable.

If your pizza box is clean and uncontaminated, it can be recycled along with other cardboard items. However, if it is soiled with food or grease, it cannot be recycled and should be thrown away. Remember to always check with your local recycling facility for specific guidelines and regulations.
